Frank Turner - Song For Eva Mae

I went watching Frank Turner for the second time a couple if weeks ago and he played this song from an audience request. I'd never heard it before that night and it's such a lovely song!

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

I bought The Perks of Being a Wallflower as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend and have read it in three days, I just couldn't put it down! We had already seen the film which I thoroughly enjoyed but the book is even more incredible. It may even have taken over as my favourite book/film from Into the Wild... Actually no, they can both be joint top! Whilst reading it I underlined a few sentences that I liked:
  • It's just that sometimes people use thought to not participate in life.
  • We accept the love we think we deserve.
  • And in that moment, I swear we were infinite.
  • Something is really wrong with me. And I don't know what it is.
  • It's like all I can do is keep writing the gibberish to keep from breaking apart.
I'm not really sure what it is I like about them, but I do :)
I found this on tumblr which I thought was pretty cool

I don't want to give the story away and spoil it so I'm stopping myself from blabbering on about it! I'll just leave you will the trailer for the film, enjoy!

Butternut squash, carrot and red lentil soup

I was really bored at home today and to procrastinate from exam revision I made some soup which turned out to be rather delicious! The recipe below would serve around 4 people and I had it with a huge slice of homemade whole grain bread

Ingredients

2 tablespoon olive oil
1 medium onion, peeled and chopped
3 carrots, peeled and chopped

3/4 small butternut squash, peeled, deseeded and chopped
600ml vegetable stock
100g dried red lentils
Black pepper

Method

1. In a large saucepan on a medium temperature heat the olive oil. Add the chopped onion and cook, stirring, until transparent

2. Add the chopped carrot and butternut squash and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes

3. Add the vegetable stock, red lentils and black pepper and stir

4. Bring to the boil, then cover and simmer for about 30 minutes, until the vegetables and lentils are tender

5. Remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly before blending with a hand blender or food processor (be careful as the soup stays hot for a long time)

6. Serve with a chunk of whole grain bread or a warmed whole grain pitta.

21st Birthday Celebrations

On Easter Sunday I turned 21! That meant one thing, excessive amounts of chocolate, cake and alcohol! As it was such a big birthday I wanted to celebrate it quite a bit with lots of different people and so had lots of celebrations! I had such a fun weekend, even if I was nursing a huge hangover the day after, and I got completely spoiled by everyone!
